Apparently it is opened and being climbed! Robie Reid is a classic of the area with many accolades, and has been on my list for some time. It is a scramble, but a difficult scramble. Participants are expected to be experienced in difficult scrambling, and indicate a willingness to participate in route and logistical planning.
Check out https://www.francisbaileyh.com/2023/10/12/mount-robie-reid/ for an idea of what's to come. Note that I am no Francis Bailey and we will not be doing this in 9 hours.
I am a moderately paced hiker and climber, and the pace will be dictated by the pace of the group. To give ourselves all the advantages, I propose we do this route as a multiday trip. I see that many people do this in a long day, but I have been told that camping at treeline is worthy and an intelligent choice.
There is likely to be snow, so microspikes, helmet and a mountaineering axe are strongly advised. Meet at the trailhead at 8AM or otherwise following discussion. Logistics and camp arrangements will be made in the forum.
Trip hinges on reasonable weather, as climbing in the rain will be hazardous.
