Looking for a few solid hiking buddies to join me on a challenging and epic day trip. We'll be biking and hiking through some of the most stunning terrain in the Lower Seymour area, with the goal of summiting Mount Bishop — a remote and rewarding peak with spectacular views.
Date & Time:
Meet Sunday at 8:30 AM at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve parking lot

**There isn't much cell coverage at the parking lot. Meet near the sign**
Trip Overview:
-
Bike: Approximately 10 km from parking lot to Vicar Lake Trailhead (past the Seymour Dam)
-
Hike: 7.6 km total with about 1268 meters of elevation gain
-
First 3–4 km is steep with some scrambling and fixed ropes
-
Continue to summit Mount Bishop once we reach Vicar Lake.
-
-
Rest & Swim: We'll stop at Vicar Lake on the return for a break and optional swim
-
Bike: 10 km ride back to the parking lot
Trip Summary:
-
Total distance: 20 km bike + 7.6 km hike. Anticipating 8 hours.
-
Elevation gain: 1268 m
-
Difficulty: Challenging — similar to a long Grouse Grind with scrambling
What to Bring:
-
A bike in good working order (very remote area, no cell service)
-
A bike chain or lock (I usually stash my bike, but lock it if you're concerned)
-
Day hiking essentials (food, water, layers, first aid, etc.)
-
Good, sturdy hiking boots
-
Swim clothes (optional but a great idea for Vicar Lake)
Important Notes:
-
This is a tough day and not suitable for beginners
-
Scrambling experience is needed — there are fixed ropes and steep sections
-
You must be able to get yourself and your bike to the starting point
