Participant Information
Females* only Bikepacking trip to the beautiful Sunshine Coast and the north-east coast of Vancouver Island:
Stats:
- From: Sunday, August 24th 10:35am ferry from Horseshoe Bay (meet there at 10am or near either Ironsworker bridger or Lionsgate bridge, TBD)
- To: Monday, September 1st in the evening (Let's see how we go)
- Group day or half day ride either weekend of Aug 9th/10th. I hope to see most of you then and if this doesn't work we can see to get an afternoon ride in during the week.
- Route will be the following (not set in stone yet): Horseshoe Bay - Langdale - Sechelt - Egmont & Sookumchuk Narrows - Earls Cove - Saltery Bay - Powell River - Lund - Savary Island - Lund - Powell River - Courtenay - Nanaimo - Horseshoe Bay. If someone has bike experience at those places I'm happy to discuss the route.

- Pace: Will be chill bikepacking pace, relaxed to moderate. No more than 90ks and 1000m elevation per day unless we feel like we all want to go crazy :-)
- Camping: There are a lot of options along the way and I will split the whole trip in possible day trips with campgrounds and share it with you guys. We then can see each day if this makes sense and adjust as we go.
- Gear: I suggest sharing gear like tent, camp kitchen, bike repair kits and miscellaneous (i.e. sunscreen, toothpaste soap) to keep weight as little as possible.
- My experience: I have done a few bikepacking trips up to 9 days long mostly in Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Austria) and so far one just this past long weekend on the Island. Here it is on Komoot:
- Day 1: Ladner Exchange P+R to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and Swartz bay to Smonecten Campground
- Day 2: Smonecten to Sooke Potholes: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2439356752?ref=aso&share_token=a4rtOSmTfcGuPZ2Qj0vH1PglVDmT2XwoiusiEyoysNOOtlBzBK

- Day 4: Duncan to Crofton and via Ferry to Salt Spring Island, across and from Fulford Harbour Ferry to Swartz Bay, Ferry to Tsawwassen and ride back to Ladner Exchange P+R: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2454921007?ref=aso&share_token=a7kJ52GIAcROjxVAG230XymTmc0kpRQV44u8YS2suwpUGTGt3Z
- Zoom call: I will organize a zoom call to organize gear the week prior to the trip. We can also make a Signal (messenger app) group chat.
- Last but not least: Let's have a great time, ladies!
