Rainbow Ramblers 2SLGBTQIA+* Allies: Crown Mountain +/- Grouse Grind
Join the Rainbow Ramblers, BCMC's 2SLGBTQIA+ affinity group, on a hike/scramble to Crown Mountain (1504m) - a fun objective close to home! With the option for bonus vert via the Grouse Grind, or a gondola uplift if you want to save your legs!
Information for participants:
We will set aim to meet at the chalet at the top of the Grouse Mountain Gondola around 9.30am. The round trip from the chalet to the summit of Crown is around 7km and 650m of vert. Most of the travel is fairly easy on trails, but there are a few short sections of moderate - not exposed - scrambling to keep things interesting! This is the perfect introduction to scrambling if you've never tried it before :) I expect this part of the trip will take around 3-4 hours. Optional grizzly bear hangs and apres at Grouse resort after. I plan to download the gondola ($25 download only ticket), but you are welcome to hike down the BCMC trail instead.
To access the top of the gondola in the morning, you can either pay for the gondola ($69, which includes download), or join me hiking up the Grouse Grind. The GG is 2.5km and 800m vert, bringing total stats to 9.5km and 1450m. I will aim to start hiking the GG at 8am (estimating around an hour to finish, and allowing time for second breakfast at the chalet!), so plan to meet at the base of the GG trail then.
Carpooling to be arranged via the planning forum. This area is also very transit accessible, or there is a free shuttle from Canada Place to Grouse base.
Non-members are welcome to this event! However, if you plan to bring someone, please let us know before the trip is at max capacity so they can be added to the participant list. In addition, all non-members must sign this waiver on the day of the event in order to participate.
