Trip Planning Questions

1. What skills would you like to practice?

2. Do you have enough experience or expertise in any particular area that you could provide some instruction?

3. What types of snow travel will you have the ability and equipment for?

Participant Information

Leaving this as a placeholder. The idea is to gather people planning on winter backcountry travel to practice a variety of skills. Topics covered will depend on the goals of the group and could include avalanche search and rescue, crevasse rescue, survival shelters, backcountry evacuation etc.

I'm not an accredited instructor or guide, and I would welcome others with experience in any of these winter skills to contact me to build an outline for a practice day together.

This will be weather dependent as to what mode of travel you will choose. It could include skinning, snowshoeing or just hiking. We often get snow up on Seymour  in November but it may not be ski friendly yet.

If we end up with a monsoon we could still arrange for practice of some skills, even if it's just at parking lot level.

Please answer the questions for participants in the planning forum.
