This course is for snowshoers only who want to learn to avoid avalanches, travel safely in the backcountry, and build their mountain safety knowledge.
BCMC Members-only course fee: $208 + GST (Non-BCMC fee is $275 + GST)
Location: North Shore & Mount Seymour or Red Heather **
**Note: If there is not adequate snow at Mount Seymour, the course may be conducted at Red Heather, or postponed to a later date.
Course Objectives:
The AST-1 Course is delivered with a Zoom session followed by a full field-day on Saturday in the backcountry, plus 2-3 hours of (mandatory) self-paced Online Learning in our Virtual Classroom before the weekend dates (17 hours total). Notes:
- Cost does not include transportation to/from course areas or personal equipment, except as noted.
- You must supply your own snowshoes.
- This course and special price are for BCMC members only.
- Courses may be combined with non-BCMC courses if enrolment is insufficient.
