Frenchman Coulee, or more commonly known as Vantage, is an enjoyable rock climbing destination in central Washington. Climbing is primarily on basalt columns, many perched on the edge of a large gorge. Its a beautiful spot. There is a mix of sport and trad, but I always focus on the sport side when I head there.
Late February should have sunny days, but possibly cold and windy nights.
Drive time is approx 5 hours. Exact dates will depend on the weather forecast, but plan on a somewhat early departure on day 1, and a somewhat late return on day 3.
There is primitive camping at the crag - bathrooms, but no running water. We will stop for a groceries on the drive down.
Participants should be comfortable top rope belaying. Just to make things easy at the border, would prefer participants be travelling with a passport that won't require a stop at the border.
