have you been to Red Heather or Elfin Lakes before? Do you want to carpool in my van?
You must login in order to sign up online for one of the BCMC Trips. If you don't have a BCMC membership account then please obtain one. If you'd prefer to learn more before joining then please join as a 30-day Guest member. Some trips are BCMC members only.
Day trip to Red Heather hut, which is a warming hut on the way to Elfin Lakes. Once at the hut, you will have the option of continuing to Elfin Lakes. This is a "friends and family" hike within the mentorship program, so feel free to invite someone. At the hut, we may break into 2 groups, those who wish to continue to Elfin Lakes and those who wish to return. The first part is on an old road but it gets more interesting later in the trip. Likely snowshoes will not be required, microspikes should be sufficient. Bring 10 essentials, lunch, snacks, and be prepared for rain at lower elevations. Therefore bring change of clothes as needed for wet weather (you can change at the hut if needed), and bring your "happy bag" for the drive home, including extra food/snacks for drive home unless we stop for food in Squamish. I will have my 7-pax van for those wishing to carpool.
Any non-members joining this trip will be required to sign a BCMC waiver, I can email it to you upon request.
