Do you have AST1?
What's your skiing experience?
Will you be driving, if so where from and can you take any passengers?
You must login in order to sign up online for one of the BCMC Trips. If you don't have a BCMC membership account then please obtain one. If you'd prefer to learn more before joining then please join as a 30-day Guest member. Some trips are BCMC members only.
Outline plan to load up on the first lifts at 9am when the Gondola opens, make our way up the to toward the Co-pilot gully via Shannon creek/Habrich spur.
Will be assessing the avalanche conditions over the next couple of days, if the risk is high or generally seems unsafe will cancel the trip or find an alternative option. Given the recent high avalanche activity and numerous snow layers the terrain choices will be conservative, and we will continually assess along the route along the way and only keep progressing if the group are happy. Have skied in this location once before but the route planning will be as a group so please make sure to check and understand the route.
I have AST 1 and two years experience backcountry skiing, generally move at a moderate pace, will be steady pace day. Anyone joining will needs to be comfortable skiing in tight trees for the access to the glacier.
If time allows an apre drink at the gondola is never a bad end to the day.
Will look to arrange carpooling from Vancouver depending on where everyone is coming from.
AST-1, 10 essentials and avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel, probe) etc all required
