I know, it sounds weird, but baked chickpeas are truly a treat, and the flavor options are endless!
Ingredients
1 15-ounce can of chickpeas
1 tablespoon olive oil
Seasonings of your choice
Seasoning Ideas:
· Black or white pepper
· Cayenne pepper
· Celery salt
· Chile powder
· Cinnamon and nutmeg
· Curry powder
· Lemon juice
· Maple syrup or honey
· Mustard powder
· Nutritional yeast
· Onion powder
· Orange zest
· Oregano, rosemary, basil, parsley, thyme, or other herbs
· Powdered fennel
· Powdered ginger
· Sea salt or soy sauce
· Smoked paprika
· Toasted sesame oil
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Drain your can of chickpeas. I like Eden’s Organic Garbanzo Beans because they are organic and come in BPA-free cans.
In a bowl, mix chickpeas with oil and seasonings. My go-to choice is 1 tablespoon of curry powder, a sprinkling of garlic powder, and a swirl of soy sauce.
Spread the chickpeas on the pan, and bake for 30-45 minutes, depending how crunchy you want them. Stir and sample the chickpeas occasionally to see how crunchy they are, ensuring they don’t burn.
