Synopsis
This is the third guide (sixth compilation) of routes in the Squamish area to appear since Jim Baldwin's loose-leaf compilation of late 1962. As opposed to the 21 routes in that guide and the 140 in the 1975 edition, this guide contains about 280 routes. To some degree it is a hybrid, in that it uses both written descriptions and topos; hopefully this is an effective compromise. Without doubt this book will be obsolete when published; the task of future editors will be much eased if innovators report their new routes to the Canadian Alpine Journal. It is hoped that supplements will appear on a biannual basis until the next edition is published.
