Objectives: Skaha Bluffs is quite a large park with a lot of options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced climbers. It is mostly known as a sport climbing destination, but there are some opportunities for trad climbing as well.
We usually split up into smaller groups each day, it will be largely up to the participants to arrange your groups and plan what you will climb. Some people may have a regular partner on the trip they choose to climb with, but there will be ample opportunities to find partners too if you need - just chat with others at camp or ask in the WhatsApp group and see what their plans are.
Requirements: You should have some experience with outdoor climbing and be comfortable leading, lead belaying, setting up anchors and cleaning anchors. You must bring all of your personal rock climbing gear (helmet, harness, shoes, PAS, anchor, etc.) and a good head for safety. Ideally you have a rope, quick draws and are ready to have a lot of fun!
Transportation: We will meet up as a group at the campground. Participants are encouraged to carpool, you can use the planning forum or WhatsApp group to arrange carpooling prior to the event. I am planning to head up Friday evening after work and back on Tuesday.
Accommodation: I have booked three campsites at Lost Moose Campground for up to 18 people total. For those of you who've never been there, it's a great campground in the hills above Skaha. It's about a 15 minute drive to the park from the camp site. The campground has hot showers, running water and washrooms.
Costs: The campsite costs will be split evenly between all attendees - the exact amount will be calculated once I have paid for the sites, but usually it is around $50 per person. Transportation costs should be arranged between each driver and their passengers directly.
Other: Keep an eye on the planning forum closer to the trip for carpooling arrangements and other planning info. Shortly before the event I will also create a Whatsapp group for all attendees to finalize carpooling and communicate during the event.
All attendees must be on the participant list and confirmed. Due to campsite limits of 6 people per site we cannot accommodate +1's who are not on the list, even if they will be sharing a tent or sleeping in your car.
